Timeline of matches
India-Australia is arguably one of the greatest rivalries in cricket history. Both teams meet regularly, often engaging in fiercely competitive matches that have produced some unforgettable moments in cricket history.
The inaugural test between India and New Zealand will take place at Nagpur on February 9 and be followed by three-match ODI series in India as part of the ICC Future Tour Programmes; with Mumbai, Delhi, Dharamsala hosting three-match ODIs while Tests will be hosted by Nagpur, Vidarbha and Himachal Pradesh respectively.
India has had limited success in Australia over time. They’ve played 13 Tests there and won just one, under stand-in captain Virat Kohli last year – when they beat Australia 2-1 to retain the Border-Gavaskar Trophy and regain its possession. Cheteshwar Pujara and other Indian pace bowlers played key roles in their team’s victory.
Australian has an outstanding record against India in one-day internationals (ODIs). After 14 encounters between them, Australia won nine matches outright with three ending in draws and winning four ICC World Cup matches against them compared to none being lost by India.
Both sides have participated in all major ICC tournaments, such as the Cricket World Cup, T20 World Cup and Champions Trophy. Australia has won 10 titles while India has taken home eight. India have more victories in T20 and ODI formats compared to Australia but Australia have an edge when it comes to tests.
On March 17th, Australia and India will play their inaugural ODI match, the first one-day international (ODI), in Mumbai. Both sides will then go on to play two more ODIs each in Delhi and Chennai before concluding their series against each other at ICC World Cup 2023 England/Wales in April/May 2023.
Australia should aim for an impressive total while India seek to keep Australia under control as much as possible in this crucial test match between both sides.

Considered one of the strongest teams across all three forms, with current ranks number one for both ODIs and T20Is respectively; also strong at Test level since 1987 with only four full home series being lost since 1987; most prominent player being Sachin Tendulkar who both lead these categories and holds both records simultaneously!
India took several years to establish itself as a world-class test team, but they have since emerged as a powerhouse at home, winning several series against both Australia and New Zealand.
Current captain Virat Kohli holds both the ICC Test Championship mace as well as records in both ODIs and T20Is – this speaks volumes for his ability as captain of India’s cricketing unit.
After nearly 10 years without major silverware, India experienced a golden period between 2008-09 that saw them win three Test series against Australia consecutively, followed by strong performances in ODI matches including winning the Champions Trophy 2022 and reaching both World Cup finals (ODI and T20 World Cup cycles).

India have since managed nine wins out of 15 one-day internationals since their comeback win – highlighted by Jemimah Rodrigues’ unbeaten 132 at Sydney Oval last November.
Both teams will field similar squads for all three one-dayers and T20Is in Sydney and Canberra, with only minor changes anticipated for T20Is in Australia. Left-arm spinner Radha Yadav may miss out for India; Kashvee Gautam and back-up keeper Uma Chetry could earn recalls.

Australia’s hopes of winning an historic series-leveling victory over India were dashed when Canberra’s match was abandoned after just 9.4 overs. Mitch Marsh won the toss and decided to field, where Abhishek Sharma (19 off 14) showed impressive form by hitting four boundaries before being bowled by Nathan Ellis – but before rain came and all players had to retreat;
Shubman Gill and Suryakumar Yadav shared an unbroken stand of 74 before it forced all off due to rain – disappointing sold out crowd eager to watch Jasprit Bumrah return as they wanted him back for another go at Australia vs Australia last summer!
