Virat Kohli
Virat Kohli is widely considered one of the greatest batsmen in world cricket. A key member of India’s Under-19 World Cup-winning side in 2008, he made his ODI debut against Sri Lanka a year later and soon established himself as its most reliable white-ball batsman – eventually becoming India’s fastest ever to reach 10,000 runs in an ODI in less than 54 innings than Sachin Tendulkar had managed.
Kohli became a permanent member of India’s Test team in 2011, starting his Test career off by scoring a century against West Indies at Mumbai.
Kohli played a pivotal role in India’s disastrous tour of Australia in 2012 but then faltered somewhat until his form returned during MS Dhoni’s absence during an ODI three-country series against Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe where he led India to two victories and was later honored as ICC ODI Player of the Year.
Kohli captained India during Dhoni’s absence during the 2014 Asia Cup but failed to help qualify them for the final. After taking charge for 2017 ICC Champions Trophy despite India losing to Pakistan in the final, he performed superbly by scoring two double centuries and scoring multiple ODI hundreds during an historic five-test series victory with India winning all of them by an overwhelming scoreline 5-0! On their 2018 tour of England for their five test series win 5-0 win under Kohli, India saw his double century return again; as did Dhoni who took charge in 2014.
Kohli has become one of the best T20I players, earning Player of Tournament awards at both 2014 and 2016 ICC Men’s T20 World Cups, in addition to being honored as Captain of the Year by Cricket Australia in 2016.
Since Royal Challengers Bangalore entered the Indian Premier League in 2012, Kohli has been an integral member of their success – winning six titles and reaching four semi-finals with them since his arrival. He has even been recognized by IPL MVP awards on multiple occasions!
Ravindra Jadeja
Ravindra Jadeja is one of the world’s most versatile and talented players, from his left-arm spinner role, fearless lower order batsman and dynamic fielder abilities he has been integral to India’s dominance in both ODI and Test cricket in recent years.
Jadeja was instrumental in India’s winning ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 campaign and Champions Trophy triumph.
He made his first-class debut in 2006 as part of India Under-19 team that reached 2006 Under-19 World Cup final.
Following a successful stint with Rajasthan Royals under Shane Warne in Indian Premier League under Shane Warne, Jadeja made his ODI debut against Sri Lanka and soon established himself as all-rounder and was included in regular team lineup.
In 2012, Jadeja garnered the highest bid at the IPL auction and joined Chennai Super Kings. Quickly becoming an integral member of their side and winning over many fans with his all-around performance, Jadeja played a pivotal role in helping CSK claim an unlikely IPL crown in 2013.
While his contributions in ODIs and T20s have been significant, Jadeja’s Test performance stands out most prominently.
On India’s 2025 tour of England he struck five consecutive fifties within one series en route to amassing 517 runs; playing an integral part in India’s drawn series draw. With such an incredible feat at his hands he joined legendary batsmen such as Don Bradman and William Gilbert Grace as living batting records.
At one point in 2019, Jadeja found himself engaged in a verbal sparring match with former India fast bowler Sanjay Manjrekar during broadcasting controversy.
Manjrekar called Jadeja an ineffective cricketer and accused him of “verbal diarrhea.” To this, Jadeja responded that he was fed up of Manjrekar’s comments and would continue playing his natural game without regard for Manjrekar’s remarks.
Under Jadeja’s excellent performances, England have appointed him captain of their two-match series against West Indies.
This follows Joe Root stepping down as Test captain in 2022; during Root’s rule England struggled in longer formats until Ben Stokes introduced an attack-focused game known as Bazball which would see England succeed on those occasions when necessary.
Kuldeep Yadav
Kuldeep Yadav is an India cricketer who currently represents Uttar Pradesh domestically and Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League.
As an unorthodox left-arm spinner with deception and variation that makes him difficult for batsmen to read, he can quickly turn a game around with his skill and confidence – an integral member of India’s bowling unit.
He made his debut for Delhi Capitals in 2022 and quickly established himself as a regular member. Due to his consistent performances – particularly his T20 wicket-taking abilities – he quickly earned fans around the globe and appeared at both ICC Men’s T20 World Cup and Champions Trophy tournaments.
England are an iconic and successful cricket nation that have won the Ashes an astounding 32 times, as well as taking home both ODI and T20 World Cup trophies twice each.
Home to some of the most revered cricket grounds worldwide and serving as its birthplace for centuries. Their revolutionary “Bazball” approach revolutionized Test cricket – now reigning both ODI and T20 World champions!
England Cricket stands at an inflection point, following Harry Brook’s appointment as white-ball captain and Ben Stokes remaining Test skipper. Their respective leadership teams could make a lasting impactful change and inspire future generations of players.
As a teenager, Yadav had the ambition of becoming a fast bowler like Wasim Akram or Zaheer Khan; however, due to his slight build, his coach persuaded him to switch to wrist-spin instead – an insightful decision which has allowed Yadav to carve a place for himself internationally – particularly with Delhi Capitals where he has become one of their integral attackers and one of the premier wrist-spinners worldwide – often changing games with just a few balls – vital components for their success as part of team effort as part of their attack against opponents!
Jasprit Bumrah
Bumrah has quickly established himself as one of the premier fast bowlers in international cricket since making his debut for India, rising quickly through the ranks to become a world-class bowler.
Born in Gujarat and making his first-class debut for Gujarat Under-19 team in 2012, his performance quickly caught the attention of selectors, and soon thereafter playing T20 cricket with Mumbai Indians before impressing selectors enough that they gave him a place in national side based on performances in Indian Premier League (IPL).
He made his Test debut in January 2018 and became the leading wicket-taker. Since then he has become a regular part of both India’s Test and ODI teams; also receiving multiple Wisden Cricketers Awards nominations including 2021-2024 awards.
Bumrah excelled during the ODI World Cup, helping India reach the final. As leading wicket-taker he earned Player of the Tournament honors and twice was chosen for inclusion into ICC Men’s ODI Teams of the Year 2018/2024.
Bumrah has made his mark in Test cricket as well, earning selection to the ICC Men’s Cricket Team of the Decade in 2022.
As one of the fastest bowlers worldwide he can reach speeds in excess of 160km per hour; his delivery is both accurate and timely and his ability to change pace has led to many key wickets being taken off him.
Bumrah was the star performer in England-India’s last Test match, taking six wickets in India’s run chase before contributing three more wickets during India’s chase of run. For his efforts he was named Man of the Match by BCCI and received its Polly Umrigar Trophy award in 2024.
Bumrah has been in excellent form of late, and looks set to play an instrumental role for India at the 2023 ICC Champions Trophy. A great fast bowler himself, Bumrah will present England batsmen with plenty of issues during their innings at Lord’s.
