SRH vs LSG
SRH scored an emphatic six-wicket win against LSG in a game which was entirely one-sided. LSG were in danger of falling out of the top four after an inauspicious start, but thanks to Abhishek Sharma’s magnificent run chase they greatly increased their chances of making the playoffs.
SRH quickly made up for their disappointing start to their season by producing an outstanding start to their innings on Ekanad.
Openers Abhishek and Aiden Markram made an unstoppable 116-run opening stand that proved unbreakable on an Ekanad track that proved perfect batting conditions for both batsmen.
As Marsh and Markram threatened to push their score past 300, Pat Cummins stepped in with a brilliant use of an old ball.
By targeting its slower yorker with plenty of grip and targeting Marsh’s hitting arc specifically he managed to bowl him out for 65 off 39 balls.
But wickets continued to fall quickly and SRH found themselves struggling with 20 needed off 12 overs. But then came Sharma’s magnificent twenty-ball 59 that included six sixes for an astounding piece of skill which turned the tide for them.
Sharma displayed stunning strokeplay, including an exceptional slog-sweep off Rathi and clinical edged drive to the long-on boundary. But his true masterstroke came in his next over when he put himself on the line to hit sixes down the ground before reaching out and picking another six off his knee – truly brilliant batting!
Even after losing two key wickets like Ishan Kishan and Heinrich Klaasen, SRH managed to come back strongly to close on 205 for 1 with 10 balls left over despite losing Ishan Kishan and Heinrich Klaasen.
Atharva Taide made his debut and hit three fours off eight balls; two came from sweep shots! Kamindu Mendis experienced some early nerves before finally having to retire hurt with a hamstring injury but the target remained well within reach.
