SRH vs KKR

Sunrisers Hyderabad of SRH and Kolkata Knight Riders of KKR may no longer have playoff hopes in IPL 2025 but will nonetheless aim to end their campaigns on a high note.

Both teams are suffering through mid-season slumps but a win in their last game can give some respite on points table as well as boost momentum heading into offseason play.

Last season’s runners-up are still seventh place after suffering several losses midway through the tournament and missed their playoff hopes. Their final game in Delhi holds much potential and both sides are eager to give it their all in this encounter.

SRH are a strong side with their bat, as their top order has been on form. Head and Abhishek Sharma have both been impressive, providing solid partnerships in powerplay overs. Meanwhile, KKR have performed well when bowling late overs, though their bowling unit struggled in their initial six overs; powerplay run-rate being lowest and economy rate second worst behind RCB respectively.

Mohammad Shami, Harshal Patel and Jaydev Unadkat help SRH’s attack; however, their inability to keep runs at bay remains an issue. Still, they possess several exciting young players that could emerge as game-changers over the final two games of the league; Aniket Verma’s 13-ball 36 against LSG and 41-ball 74 against DC demonstrated how dangerous he can be as an opponent batter;

Kamindu Mendis and Eshan Malinga have also stood out as threats this season SRH’s bowlers; similarly young pacer Kamindu Mendis has delivered with his performances alongside Sri Lankan spinner Eshan Malinga’s performances for SRH this season.

Sunil Narine and Varun Chakravarthy will be key figures for KKR against SRH, both being masters of slow bowling while Chakravarthy has proven a formidable challenger to spinners this season, scoring one boundary every three balls and hitting 11 sixes off spinners alone! In addition, Angkrish Raghuvanshi and Chetan Sakariya can provide much-needed variety to their batting line-ups.

KKR’s batting lineup: Rahmanullah Gurbaz (wk), Ajinkya Rahane (c), Venkatesh Iyer, Quinton de Kock, Angkrish Raghuvanshi, Ramandeep Singh and Andre Russell will lead their attack with Anrich Nortje, Sunil Narine and Vaibhav Arora providing cover alongside Luvnith Sisodia for Spencer Johnson and Moeen Ali providing additional depth.

As for SRH, they’ll likely adopt their winning formula that allowed them to dominate KKR in their previous encounter. With an excellent record against them and an array of tactics available at their disposal – be it an all-out assault or subtle use of bat and ball – SRH are likely to continue their dominance on Thursday night. We shall see which approach works better.
