Mumbai Indians vs Lucknow Super Giants

Mumbai Indians (MI) secured their fifth straight win of the season and moved up into second place on the points table with an easy 54-run win against Lucknow Super Giants at home, playing before an enthusiastic home crowd at Wankhede Stadium. Half centuries from Ryan Rickelton and Suryakumar Yadav helped MI post 215 before Jasprit Bumrah and Trent Boult quickly took wickets off both opponents to ensure a routine victory.

Hosts batted first and quickly found themselves under pressure as LSG skipper Nicholas Pooran struggled for just two runs from eight balls before finally finding his groove with Mitchell Marsh and building an unbroken 62-run partnership for the fourth wicket.

Mayank Yadav made a successful comeback after an extended absence with his pace having reduced significantly but was still effective, taking two wickets within one over. His first ball had a spongy bounce and beat Rickelton for six before dislodging Jacks’ leg stump with its slower one.

After MI exploded for four sixes off Avesh Khan in the 13th over, MI took control and Yadav completed his 50 with another ramp off him towards the boundary. A googly from Rathi was then hit over midwicket rope for another six as they reached 175-3 in 17th over.

Aiden Markram struck Chahar to the off side for two fours before flicking him back off for 19 runs off 30 balls. But Bumrah, brought in when MI required 76 from 30 balls, came in and quickly removed their last three batsmen with two bowlers bowling slow yorkers that caught Miller off his inside edge and another that tore through Bosch’s off stump for a comprehensive win for MI – marking their first innings this season where all five bowlers conceded over 40 runs each innings.

Mumbai Indians boast an experienced squad this season and hope to extend their winning run in the IPL. Jasprit Bumrah made his comeback, taking four wickets against Kolkata Knight Riders last game and batsmen like Ryan Rickelton and Ayush Badoni are making important contributions towards team victory.

LSG have struggled thus far in this season’s IPL but are eager to make a comeback. After losing to Punjab Kings by 8 wickets in their previous match, they must win to return into contention for one of the four spots in the top four race. LSG are hoping for better performances this time and hope that MI can be limited below 215/7 total score.

Rohit Sharma opened up the game for Mumbai Indians by hitting two consecutive sixes off Mayank Yadav to send shockwaves through Wankhede Stadium and appear in control. Subsequently, Mumbai Indians batsmen hit another six off Yadav to complete this incredible start.

Nicholas Pooran has made an outstanding effort at the other end, taking his side closer to victory with every over he bats. In the previous over, he hit Deepak Chahar for three consecutive sixes and one boundary as the pacer leaked 20 runs from that over.

Rishabh Pant and Will Jacks both appeal for an LBW ruling; however, on-field umpire signals not out and DRS analysis proves otherwise; therefore Jacks remains unpunished.

MI vs LSG Live Score

CORBIN BOSCH made his IPL debut on ESA day and considers it to be an exceptional day, recalling receiving news of it from MI head coach Mahela Jayawardene in the morning and feeling jealous of Eathan’s day, yet relieved to now be part of winning team.

When discussing his batting he simply focused on making contact with ball to calm nerves; adding that Lasith Malinga has provided invaluable help with bowling technique development; refusing to be labeled part-timer or allrounder since always ready to contribute towards winning team success!

Hardik Pandy of MI was pleased with their win at Wankhede. He credits their collective effort as everyone contributed both with bat and ball to achieve such an outcome.

In particular, Pandy lauds Bosch’s contributions as essential building blocks of great teams; adding that he feels fortunate that they made their day a little brighter as fans had been so supportive all season long.

MI vs LSG Live Commentary

Wankhede pitch has not disappointed today – both teams are playing excellent cricket, making this match-up highly entertaining.

Ryan Rickelton and Suryakumar Yadav both scored fifties for MI while Jasprit Bumrah is captivating to watch with his yorkers; already taking four wickets today to overtake Lasith Malinga as MI’s leading wicket taker this season.

Trent Boult has also put on an impressive show for MI, taking down Mitchell Marsh, Nicholas Pooran and Ayush Badoni – three left-handed batsmen of LSG batsmen who have all fallen to him easily. It is becoming an increasing difficulty for LSG batsmen.

Aiden Markram began confidently but could not maintain it throughout. Naman Dhir took an excellent catch at deep mid-wicket off Bumrah when Aiden mistimed a fuller length ball just outside off, late in his stroke, which went straight to one of the fielders at backward point.

Boult has just taken another wicket at 145/6 in the 18th over and Rathi looks for a hook that fails; unfortunately it goes straight to the keeper and Rathi then attempts a drive but misses and is out for 54 runs.

He was looking to break the record for fastest fifty in IPL history but fell just short, ending on 147/6 and MI winning decisively – their fifth consecutive victory and second place position in the table, plus it is their 150th IPL victory bringing them one step closer to winning yet another title! Rishabh Pant has led a remarkable turnaround at IPL team that finished last in 2024, but are currently on fire this season. Their captain will look to beat MI’s five wins each in six meetings so far! Their next clash will take place in Dharamsala in about one week; stay tuned until then with live commentary!
