England National Football Team Vs Brazil National Football Team Lineups
Manchester — England felt an all too familiar pang as their homecoming tour got off to a disappointing start in the latest clash of the England National Football Team Vs Brazil National Football Team Lineups, with Brazil securing a hard-fought victory at Wembley Stadium.
With Brazil reduced to ten players after Angelina’s red card, England began to gain momentum. Alex Greenwood struck the crossbar before Jess Carter nodded over an early rebound for her side to pose threats on the counterattack.

England vs Brazil
England were dealt a blow upon their homecoming as Brazil scored a shock 2-1 win at Manchester’s City of Manchester Stadium. England were hoping to build on their Euro 2025 final victory as they began World Cup qualifying campaigns but instead found themselves quickly being dismantled by South American champions Brazil who dismantled them easily at this iconic stadium.
Brazil stormed out of the blocks quickly in the opening 20 minutes with two goals in less than 20 seconds from Bia Zaneratto and Dudinha to seize control.
Zaneratto scored from outside of the box before Dudinha curled one into the bottom right corner – leaving Sarina Wiegman’s side facing an uphill battle, although Beth Mead scored a penalty to reduce their deficit before half time.
Mead found space in the box but was then struck as she attempted to shoot, prompting the referee to point to a penalty spot. Soon thereafter, Aggie Beever-Jones entered and her perfectly timed volley ricocheted off of the crossbar – making an immediate statement of intent by the hosts.
Keira Walsh made her presence felt in midfield with her passing and run. Her pass set up Ella Toone but her attempt sailed wide of the left post.
England Lineup
England will look to bounce back after an underwhelming March, where they fell to Japan and Uruguay respectively, by playing Brazil in a friendly that will give fans insight into how Gareth Southgate plans on handling his Three Lions ahead of this summer’s European Championship.
Due to injuries, many new faces could emerge on the pitch this weekend. Michy Batshuayi of West Ham should fill Kobbie Mainoo or Elliot Anderson’s central midfield role while Jude Bellingham and Phil Foden will compete for Ollie Watkins’ creative number 10 role; Manchester United defender Anthony Gordon recently earned his debut cap and may partner Darren Fletcher at centre back.
Two early goals dealt a blow to England’s hopes for an impressive homecoming. Bia Zaneratto scored from close range after charging into the box and slotting past Alex Greenwood from close range, then following Ella Toone’s mistake which saw Angelina red-carded, Dudinha struck an incredible strike off the outside of her boot which further put England behind.
England battled back from an early setback and nearly scored before half-time. Jess Carter was denied by an outstanding save from Brazil goalkeeper Silvia Neida; later she also hit the crossbar from a free kick late in the match.
After the break, England attempted to hit back, with Jordan Pickford coming close with an attempt to hit back with a diving header from a corner. Neida made a save before there were further chances for both teams.
With 10 minutes remaining there were more opportunities on either side – Substitute Jordan Henderson saw his effort deflected wide by Guehi before another late opportunity presented itself but England failed to capitalize and claim an equaliser.
It was nevertheless a respectable performance against an experienced Brazilian side; hopefully their first encounter since joining UEFA Nations League will give them confidence and get their campaign off to a winning start!

Brazil Lineup
The England national football team competes internationally and is controlled by the Football Association, its governing body for football in England. FA is affiliated with FIFA as the world federation that governs world soccer; England competes in three of their major tournaments such as FIFA World Cup, UEFA European Championship and UEFA Nations League respectively.
England first won their national team competitions in 1872 when their national team was founded – making them one of the oldest teams worldwide. England defeated Scotland 4-3 during their inaugural friendly, setting off a streak of victories against Scottish opposition throughout most of the nineteenth century.
England’s national football team has gone through both good and bad periods during its history. From the late 80s through early 1990s, England were considered among the very best worldwide – this period being known as their “Golden Generation.”
Although this team had considerable talent, its achievements never translated to success on a global stage. They failed to qualify for the 1994 FIFA World Cup; lost in 1999 Confederations Cup final against Argentina; and were defeated by Germany in an unexpected fashion in the 2002 World Cup semifinals (known as “Maracanazo”).
Early 2000s saw England embark on its rebuild. A young, talented group was assembled, including such players as Wayne Rooney, Steven Gerrard and Javier Hernandez; these young talent eventually earned them the moniker “Samba Boys.” Though losing two of three matches during group play, this team advanced all the way into quarterfinals before being defeated by Italy.
England qualified for the 2006 FIFA World Cup but were eliminated early by Germany, this time. England have made progress since that point and in 2022 are looking to reach the semi-finals once more; they face Brazil though who remain unbeaten thus far and have won each of these World Cup editions so far.
Brazil Starting XI
Brazil dealt England a devastating setback at their City of Manchester Stadium homecoming as two early goals from Bia Zaneratto and Dudinha put them in control early. Bia scored after just nine minutes after charging onto a pass at the edge of the box to curl past goalkeeper Karen Carney before Dudinha capitalised on a misstep from England’s defence to score another in the bottom left corner before half time.
As Beth Mead and Georgia Stanway both came close, England nearly managed to claw one goal back. Mead saw her attempt blocked while Stanway saw his long-range effort deflect narrowly wide. Aggie Beever-Jones’ entry signalled a change of momentum as England searched for equaliser; and shortly before halftime Angelina was sent off and gave them almost guaranteed scoring chances.
As England pushed to find an equaliser in the second half, they struggled to contain their hosts and could only see few chances come their way – Alex Greenwood saw an attempt go wide while Jess Carter headed one away as they struggled to make any headway into the final third.
The Lionesses boast a strong squad and will see this opportunity as the ideal chance to launch their World Cup campaign with confidence. They can take comfort in having never failed to qualify in their history and will look to avoid another early exit like four years ago.
Gareth Southgate has made several adjustments from his initial EUROs team selection in the latest England National Football Team Vs Brazil National Football Team Lineups, with Ollie Watkins replacing Ivan Toney up front, Anthony Gordon making his debut alongside Jude Bellingham and Phil Foden in midfield, Conor Gallagher taking up left back duties, with Ben Chilwell in centre defence due to Jordan Henderson and Kalvin Phillips not being available.
