Every member of the International Cricket Council has its own national cricket board that coordinates Test matches and oversees player development, while bilateral series between nations can also be organized as two or five match series with one host country and visiting ones.

Some countries also have regional associations that organise Test matches; for instance, the West Indies represents all 15 of its countries and territories, whereas Ireland and Zimbabwe both represent both of their sovereign nations.

In the past, Test matches between England and a Rest of the World XI were played; these arrangements were modified after South Africa’s suspension from international cricket due to apartheid in 1970.

2nd TEST

On 28-29 January 2025, England and Zimbabwe met for their second Test match since 2003 at Lord’s, London. On Day Two, England’s batsmen dominated proceedings. Zak Crawley and Ollie Pope scored centuries, placing England in an excellent position with 498-3 at stumps. Ben Stokes took three wickets – an unprecedented achievement at this stage in their careers!

4th TEST

Ben Stokes stood out as the star performer in an otherwise stellar Test performance by taking five wickets and scoring a hundred with both bat and ball under immense pressure, even while suffering significant physical abuse from opponents. It was an outstanding display by all concerned that will help shape England under Shubman Gill going forward.

Norman Yardley won the toss and elected to bat, knowing victory would help stop an Australian series win. Len Hutton and Cyril Washbrook started off strongly together, building an early lead.

As the day wore on, England struggled to contain India’s runs; but during an intense late-night session Bill Edrich and Alec Bedser produced some notable scores that propelled their hosts towards 496 runs in their first innings.
