RCB: 169/8 in 20 overs
After winning the toss, RCB struggled to get their top-order going as their top order crumbled quickly – falling to 42/4 within just 2.2 overs.
Devdutt Padikkal was sent back by Arshad Khan before Phil Salt mistimed a dot ball and lost his wicket to Mohammed Siraj (3/19).
Liam Livingstone (24) and Jitesh Sharma (33 off 25) put on an impressive 75-run partnership that took them from 177-8 to 169-8 before Rashid Khan hit three sixes for three in the 18th over, taking their total up to 177-8 before Ishant Sharma trapped him leg before wicket for 36 balls and Ishant’s leg before wicket saw their innings conclude at 169/8 in 20 overs.
GT: 170 in 20 overs
GT are currently racing on what appears to be a two-paced track. Michael Clarke suggests that 180 may be expected on this circuit, yet they have not come anywhere close.
Rahul Tewatia was run-out after Hardik hit a straight drive towards deep extra cover from Sherfane Rutherford’s bowling, failing to slog Siraj before playing back an attempted short and wide delivery from Rutherford and holeing out to deep extra cover off one delivery of slow short and wide delivery from Siraj.
Sai Sudharsan takes to bowling the 20th over, but when attempting a big six, the ball passes under his helmet and has to be replaced by Robin Minz.
OUT: Bhuvneshwar Kumar
Bhuvneshwar Kumar is a right-arm medium bowler who possesses exceptional swing. He can make batsmen feel uncomfortable across all three formats of cricket; playing for Uttar Pradesh domestically as well as India internationally.
RCB’s pacers have been impressive thus far and that is expected to continue here. Unfortunately, however, they have yet to crack through the middle order and deliver results.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar strikes again and removes Shubman Gill for 14 runs as he goes for a big hit off the first ball but misses as the ball slips to Livingstone at deep point for their first wicket of the day.
Sherfane Rutherford continues his run-scoring efforts for GT, edgeing five balls past point on one occasion for their 50 partnership total.
OUT: Arshad Khan
Arshad Khan made an outstanding showing with the ball, bowling 4 overs while only conceding 9 runs. In his first over, he took two wickets immediately – first trapping Arjun Azad LBW for a duck before dismissing Shivam Bhambri for one run.
Madhya Pradesh quickly took control of the match through Harsh Gawali’s unbeaten 74 and Harpreet Singh’s 48 runs, as both batsmen racked up three wickets each to help set Madhya Pradesh on course to win easily.
Arshad Khan has impressed domestic cricket audiences with both his batting and bowling performances in domestic cricket. After making waves at both CK Nayudu Trophy (2023) and IPL 2024 season’s Delhi Capitals with his aggressive 58 against them – which led him to get picked up by Gujarat Titans for INR 1.30 crore ahead of IPL 2025; further highlighting his promising talent is his powerful lower order cameos which showcases his promising talent.
OUT: Devdutt Padikkal
The Gujarat Titans are an Indian Premier League cricket team based out of Ahmedabad and owned by Torrent Group and CVC Capital Partners. Since debuting in 2022, they have made several trips to the finals, reaching both times as early contenders.
Liam Livingstone and Tim David carry the burden of making RCB’s comeback rest on them. With much at stake in this game, both have much to prove as they bat in Rashid Khan’s 10th over – when Livingstone almost picks off off-stump line deliveries off the stump line before crouches low and smashes it over deep square leg for six. Slowly but surely they are back into it now.
OUT: Sai Sudharsan
B Sai Sudharsan and Shubman Gill’s opening partnership of 108 runs helped Gujarat Thunder beat Delhi Capitals comfortably at home on Sunday. Sudharsan moved up the Orange Cap table, while Gill is close behind with 617 runs in 12 matches.
Sudharsan has been an impressive performer for GT this season, quickly earning himself a place on the national squad after performing prominently for Tamil Nadu in domestic tournaments. He made his international debut against South Africa in 2023 and quickly established himself in their national squad.
OUT: Josh Hazlewood
Josh Hazlewood was the sole Royal Challengers wicket to fall during an anxious Powerplay. The fast bowler clocked 164.2 km/h – far above his usual 130s pace – which set off alarm bells at Channel Nine’s speed gun.
Country boy from near Tamworth who once received comparisons to Glenn McGrath has long been recognised as one of Australia’s premier all-format bowlers. Known for his metronomic accuracy outside off stump, steep bounce thanks to his large 196cm frame and high release point; paceman Tom Curran has won widespread respect.
Buttler contributed to three of the four runs scored during this over, by dropping a regulation catch and failing to halt Sherfane Rutherford’s reckless lap-shot. Tim David then unleashed an eight-ball six over the ground from his very first ball for an added boost for the Titans.
OUT: Tim David
Tim David was born in Singapore but relocated to Perth at two. Initially representing Singapore at the 2019 ICC T20 World Cup Asia Qualifier before switching his allegiances and playing for Australia instead.
Hard-hitting middle-order batsman David has made an impressionful T20 League debut with Perth Scorchers of Big Bash League; since then he has also appeared for Hobart Hurricanes and Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
After an initially slow start, RCB innings quickly gained pace as Liam Livingstone and Jitesh Sharma led with quickfire contributions, before David cameoed late with key contributions to bring them up to 169 for 8 in 20 overs. Mohammed Siraj returned to Chinnaswamy Stadium with three wickets: first in powerplay overs before taking another in death overs.
OUT: Phil Salt
The Gujarat Titans (GT) is a professional Twenty20 cricket franchise based out of Ahmedabad, India that competes in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Home games take place at Narendra Modi Stadium; club ownership includes both Torrent Group and CVC Capital Partners; Hardik Pandya is captain while Ashish Nehra serves as coach.
Salt’s unbeaten 87-ball innings helped GT score an impressive 180/4 after winning the toss at M Chinnaswamy Stadium.
His innings featured seven boundaries and five sixes – including an eye-catching 100-metre long six from Andre Russell in the fourth over.
The 2024 season proved challenging for the Titans, with key injuries and transitional issues in leadership and squad composition weighing heavily on them. Yet their strong finish in league stage and second-place playoff finish signified an encouraging beginning to their IPL journey.
