Rohit Sharma set MI off slowly but then quickly accelerated in the powerplay to position them at 92/2 before Chahal abruptly destroyed their innings by getting rid of Suryakumar Yadav who attempted to sweep Chahal but instead skyed it straight up for Priyansh Arya to catch.
Jonny Bairstow followed suit when he missed his scoop attempt off Vyshak and was also caught by Arya.
MI appeared to be in good position when they scored 152/2 when rain arrived, yet were knocked back after some quality bowling from PBKS and some luck from Nehal Wadhera and Shreyas Iyer were struck out in quick succession by quality bowling from Boult in the 19th over, including one which proved crucial.
PBKS took advantage of this and won with ease, including thanks to some aggressive hitting from Nehal Wadhera who played aggressive cricket along with captain Shreyas Iyer who kept his cool while remaining calm throughout. PBKS made all of it’s bowlers by taking one drop from Boult which ultimately helped win them the game by one wicket!
With 24 balls to spare, PBKS managed to close out a four-wicket win against MI and earn their place in the IPL final against RCB for the very first time ever in this format of IPL. Shreyas Iyer deservedly earned all the praise he received for his match-winning knock.
