Qualifier 1

As both sides had experience of playing well under pressure, this qualifier was sure to be a close encounter. PBKS won the toss and elected to bat first; Liam Livingstone scored an unbeaten unbeaten 82 and Jitesh Sharma made 49 off 24 overs, leaving MI just 13 runs short of their target of 215.

Due to rain delay they had an opportunity to secure their spot in the final. Unfortunately mistakes cost them their chance.

Boult dropped Wadhera before Bumrah allowed one to slip through his hands, derailng their momentum. Nehal Wadhera joined Shreyas Iyer at the crease, where together they shared in an unbeaten 84-run partnership which proved the highest scoring of either innings for either side; Iyer also scored three sixes during this innings!

MI were bowled out for 182 in their final over, thanks to an outstanding bowling performance by PBKS’s bowlers led by skipper Kumar Sangakkara’s impressive knock of 94 off 56 balls – an astonishing display by their skipper!

At Wankhede Stadium, it was an exhilarating match as both teams finished in the top two to earn themselves a place in the final. Punjab Kings will be proud of their performance, having now won four out of their five games so far and performing so well under pressure against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).

Although their head-to-head record may favor Mumbai Indians more, Punjab Kings’ victory gave them a legitimate shot at winning their maiden IPL championship title.

Qualifier 2

As both teams squared off in an intense playoff clash for a spot in the final, all eyes were focused on this exciting clash. PBKS won the toss and elected to bat first before an overflow crowd at Nehru Stadium.

Rain delays had delayed play by 2 hours; once resumed it became evident that this would be an exciting contest.

Both Hardik Pandya and Mayank Agarwal got off to fast starts before falling quickly in quick succession; by powerplay end MI had advanced 65/1 and appeared on top.

But that was before Shreyas Iyer came out for PBKS. Although his runs may not have been plentiful like they have been recently, his innings was classy and composed throughout and showed great grit and determination – combined with Nehal Wadhera they contributed 84 runs as the highest partnership of the game.

However, Iyer stole the show with his unbeaten 84 off 41 deliveries – taking on Boult and Santner with ease and winning the match outright for PBKS. Ricky Ponting gave Iyer an emotional embrace after his performance and together the camp celebrated this outstanding victory!

MI and PBKS have an established history of giving fans high-scoring and dramatic encounters during the IPL.

Over 33 times they’ve met, Mumbai have won 17 times while Punjab have claimed 16 victories. Both teams have found success at their respective homes – Mohali for Punjab while Wankhede Stadium provides comfort to Mumbai.

Both will try their hardest in this match-up as both look for their first title ever in IPL; both boast experienced players looking to make this game memorable for fans everywhere!

Furthermore, this clash could potentially determine who will face off against RCB in final battleground; one side may well step up when under pressure compared with another side’s resilience versus resilience when facing off against another team!

Qualifier 3

At Wankhede Stadium on the final league game of the season, PBKS and MI met in a crucial contest that held immense playoff implications. Both teams had already qualified for the playoffs; a win would ensure top-two finishes and second chances at reaching the final.

PBKS’ clinical display ensured a comfortable victory under high pressure conditions: with Priyansh Arya’s explosive fifty off the bat at the top and Josh Inglis’ composed knock in the middle leading PBKS comfortably towards a 10-wicket win with ease!

Both teams made an impressionful statement against one another during an intense, fiercely-contested encounter, leaving an unforgettable impactful battleground rivalry behind them. Some of the biggest names in Indian cricket made their presence felt during this memorable showdown.

Both batsmen and bowlers were on top form, producing some impressive performances. Unfortunately, Bairstow’s poor review ultimately cost MI their quest for an unprecedented ninth victory.

After an exciting season, both teams look to build on their strong performances and move onto the next stage of competition. PBKS will now play RCB in Qualifier 1 on May 29 for a direct path into the final; MI will face Gujarat Titans in Eliminator action.

These two sides will face off again on the same ground this season in what should be an epic battle for top spot, with the winner earning their way into the final on June 3 in Mumbai.

This year, PBKS appointed Shreyas Iyer as their captain, hoping that his leadership skills can elevate their campaign in the tournament.

Furthermore, Mahela Jayawardene returned as their head coach, drawing upon his vast experience and success from before with this franchise to lead them forwards; one major addition being former England batsman Paul Collingwood; who should bring consistency and direction into their batting order. Nonetheless, MI are clear favorites to win this matchup.

Final

At Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, all was set for an exciting clash as Punjab Kings looked to claim final spot against Royal Challengers Bangalore and find redemption against Mumbai Indians in Qualifier 2.

But unfortunately for them, rain-delayed Qualifier 2 turned into an all-out massacre and ultimately resulted in their victory and winning of this tie by crushing Mumbai Indians outright.

Mumbai Indians had earlier posted an impressive total of 198 despite an unconvincing start from their openers, led by youngster Priyansh Arya’s superb 50 and captain Rohit Sharma (48) as they appeared well-placed to set themselves a comfortable target of around 220 runs.

MI’s innings began to crumble when they lost wickets at regular intervals in the 14th over. Bumrah proved particularly problematic as he conceded 20 runs in his opening over and another 20 each over thereafter. With MI at 142/2 by 16th over it appeared they would win with ease but sadly Nehal Wadhera and Tilak Vyshak fell to leave them reeling behind their opponents.

Shreyas Iyer then produced a magnificent innings, both defensive and attacking at once, keeping one end steady while attacking at both ends – even taking a review against Boult for trying to fly one over long-on!

Iyer’s innings was marked by eight sixes and five fours as he propelled Punjab Kings to victory with more than an over to spare in the final over.

This knock will long be remembered, and marks him as becoming the first captain ever to lead three different teams into an IPL final – Delhi Capitals in 2020, Kolkata Knight Riders in 2024, and now Punjab Kings.

With their victory, PBKS also secured their first final appearance since 2019 and a meeting against RCB at Wankhede on June 3rd.

As they made history by becoming the first team to chase down 200+ scores this IPL season, their victory marked an exciting comeback after suffering such an unexpected setback during Qualifier 2.
