Chennai Super Kings vs Kolkata Knight Riders Timeline

The CSK lion appeared disgruntled and weak in its lair, its mane disheveled and its claws slightly lax compared to what had once been its position as hunter. Instead, this time it was hunted rather than becoming hunter itself.
Brevis and Dube made life even tougher for CSK batsmen, who initially displayed impressive powerplay displays before faltering in the middle overs. This match added another chapter to the chennai super kings vs kolkata knight riders timeline, showcasing the changing momentum between the two IPL giants.

Ajinkya Rahane
Ajinkya Rahane is an acclaimed Indian cricketer, playing for Mumbai domestic cricket, India in Test cricket and Rajasthan Royals in white ball cricket. As a middle-order batsman he has scored 12 Test centuries and three ODI tons. Additionally he has amassed over 1000 runs in the IPL.
A very talented player known for his cover drives and back foot glances as his signature shots. Additionally he is known for his outstanding fielding abilities, having amassed an outstanding catching record record!
Rahane was also part of India U-19 and India A teams before earning selection to the national squad in 2022. Since then he has been an outstanding performer, leading them in several games while dealing with pressure admirably – as a natural leader he can also handle pressure well while being an outstanding cricketer capable of turning matches on their head on any given day.
He has seen his batting improve over time and made some crucial contributions during recent games for Mumbai Super Kings, giving them hope of scoring big this season.
Rahane made headlines for hitting some enormous sixes against Sunrisers Hyderabad and helping their side win by 30 runs, so he will look to maintain this form in their match against CSK at Eden Gardens.
Last time these teams met, KKR found themselves struggling as they were reduced to 11/1 at one point. Yet they rallied, defying CSK’s spinners to chase down an ambitious target.
Now with Urvil Patel and Brevis emerging, there is hope for next season if they make the playoffs.
KKR must win their game against CSK to have any hope of survival, so they will need to put aside their differences with Dhoni and focus on their task at hand. If they succeed at doing this, they have a good chance at taking home victory in this matchup.
Sunil Narine
Sunil Narine is one of the world’s premier T20 bowlers. Since 2012, he has been an integral component of Kolkata Knight Riders’ success in the Indian Premier League, contributing many runs and wickets for them as part of his role as “Mystery Spinner”.
Known for his unique delivery method with lots of variations possible he can completely change games through his bowling!
After impressing in the Champions League T20 of 2011, Sunil Narine made his international ODI and Test debuts for West Indies in 2012. Known for both off-spin bowling and hitting with great power, Narine currently plays for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the IPL and has quickly become one of its most sought-after players.
He has been an integral member of KKR in their pursuit of three IPL titles, playing 177 matches for them while scoring 1534 runs and taking 180 wickets.
Yet despite being such an integral player on their squad, Narine leads an unassuming life, enjoying travelling and spending time with his family; also supporting local cricket activities and charitable organisations in his hometown Arima, Trinidad & Tobago.
At KKR, he has proved his value time after time as a match-winner. In 2024 he led them to their third IPL title while being honored as MVP of the tournament. Furthermore, his record against Chennai Super Kings stands out.
On Sunday, he will look to replicate his form from his previous game against Mumbai Indians and strike early against their opposition.
Sunil Philip Narine was born 26 May 1988 in Arima, Trinidad and Tobago and currently plays international cricket for West Indies team. He holds multiple records within Indian Premier League such as fastest half century (15 balls) and jointly holds with Yusuf Pathan fastest fifty.
Dewald Brevis
Dewald Brevis’ magnificent half century brought Kolkata Knight Riders close to being eliminated as CSK came away with a two-wicket win at Eden Gardens in an exciting match. Brevis had revived a run-chase that looked set for collapse after both openers of KKR had scored ducks on an unusually spin-friendly pitch, before Shivam Dube added crucial 45 runs before MS Dhoni hit sixes from two balls away to ensure CSK secured their two wickets win in Eden Gardens.
Ajinkya Rahane and Andre Russell performed admirably, yet KKR’s slow start to their chase saw them fall well short of reaching a competitive total.
At one point they fell to 62-5 in the Powerplay and appeared doomed for another collapse before Rahane and Russell put forth valiant efforts that fell just short.
At No 6, Brevis played an extraordinary knock to put CSK back in control of the match, smashing Harshit Rana for two sixes and one four before smashing Moeen Ali for one four to bring up 100 in 12 overs.
Moeen Ali dismissed him for an 11-ball 31 off Moeen with an edge to backward point off him for an edged lofted pull to backward point off him.
Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja then tried unsuccessfully to build partnerships during middle overs before Varun Chakaravarthy dismissed them both to reduce CSK to 125-6 by the 17th over.
Urvil Patel came to the crease and immediately made an impressionful statement, hitting an unforgettable six over long-on off a slower delivery that had caught him off guard.
He was also clinical with the ball, taking advantage of leg breaks and googlys pitched low by Arora to hit four fours off leg breaks and sixes from googlies that kept low to grab four fours and sixes from both deliveries.
Although caught at long-on by Arora after scoring eight runs off four overs, Dube and Dhoni hit eight runs from this final over – Dube hitting Rana twice more for sixes while Dhoni guided an otherwise straighter delivery over mid-off for his sixth boundary of this innings.
Urvil Patel
Chennai Super Kings’ popularity among fans can be easily understood when one considers their team name: Chennai conjures images of an imperial power, with royalist imagery depicted by copper plate seals that depict elephants, lions and crowns. Furthermore, this people-friendly team displays this sentiment both on the pitch and off it.
CSK had been untouchable last season, missing out on playoffs altogether and coming away empty handed from Chepauk Stadium.
They returned this year with six victories at home and three away to finish top of their division and Dhoni was key in leading them back into contention with his expert spin bowling skills despite lacking depth away from Chepauk.
After being ridiculed for having an “Uncle’s Army” squad following the auction, they disproved critics by returning to the final once again and winning yet another championship title – making this their third triumphant win in four seasons! Several veteran players played key roles and led their squad back into glory once more.
CSK T20 Cricket has quickly become an international sensation since their introduction into Indian Premier League competition ten seasons ago.
Their innovations – from Mongoose Bat to their catchy “Whistle Podu” and “Raise Your Hands” jingles – have proven popular with Indian audiences. Furthermore, their innovative marketing has resulted in them becoming one of the most consistent teams ever, finishing only once bottom place finish out of all ten seasons!
Urvil Patel is an exciting young wicketkeeper-batsman for Gujarat in domestic cricket. Since being added to IPL 2025’s squad after Vansh Bedi’s injury, Urvil Patel has quickly built up a solid reputation as a hard-hitting lower order batsman and scored over 1,000 runs across domestic T20 tournaments – promising prospects worth keeping an eye out for in future matches against KKR; youngster Urvil could play a vital role for any T20 fantasy league team!
